Christmas Market Day in -18 degrees Celsius Weather is Classic Ottawa Mom Life! #OOTD

Hat – Under Armour
Scarf – Mango
Coat – Wilfrid Symphony Coat
Shoes – Zara

As we inch closer to the start of the Christmas holidays and the end of the Year, I can’t help but reflect on all the moments of the last few months (and years, to be honest). It amazes me how many things have happened, changed, and evolved – both the positive and negative experiences, as it’s all that has made this time what it is.

Without going into my Year In Review post here, I’ve decided to make this an #OOTD post; while I finish working on a little 12 Days of Christmas: Mom Edition Poem I’ve been working on.

With the temperatures dropping to -18 degrees Celsius (making that -25 degrees Celsius with the wind chill) our moments outdoors have been limited. Taking the opportunity of a warmer day we visited a local Christmas Market with the kids; which luckily had an indoor and outdoor component. In terms of outfit details, the main focus was on staying warm, so it’s essentially layers of warmth underneath the coat, so not too much to go into there for now as I feel that my cold weather layering instructions deserve their own dedicated post; so more on that later.

Starting from the top, I purchased this Under Armour hat last summer – yes, I bought a winter hat in the middle of our hot and humid summer. It’s soft and warm and stays on well – I highly recommend it. The scarf is from Mango, purchased in Poland last year – also cozy, soft and warm. This beautiful brown coat is one I’ve talked about before; purchased at Aritzia. This is the Wilfred Symphony Model which isn’t currently available, here’s the link to something similar so you can check out all the details. I recommend any coat from Aritzia, as they’ve essentially all proven themselves worthy of every penny spent.

Finishing off the look with a pair of Zara boots, which (not) surprisingly are truly warm. I must admit that although some Zara items feel like seasonal pieces that will wear down easily, I do find myself picking up items that I can wear for years without any decomposition; including shoes. I anticipated these to be seasonal wear, but have been strutting in them for a few years now, and even managing to stay warm during the colder months.

Please remember, especially at this time, as many are posting on social media their “Year in Review” content of all the magical moments, that in between all the glamourous times, there are also those real raw moments. We are all human, and everyone has the right to choose what to share and what to keep private. But the reality is, no one’s life is truly perfect. With all due respect, I’ll leave it there as I think we all can appreciate and understand what I mean by that.
