Loungewear, sweat sets, or however you want to call it – it’s all meant for one purpose: to see you cozy and comfy. The fashion world has always had its own take on loungewear; even some have proposed we wear sweatpants with heels. Whatever and whichever your iteration of it may be; I’m here today to tell you that I love and live in loungewear regularly, especially at home with the kids. Today, I’m sharing with you 5 loungewear sets I recommend to my family and friends regularly.

Lazypants from Costco
Since Lazypants brought their sets to Costco back in 2020 (from my recollection) it has been a must have item on many Canadian’s shopping lists. For starters, the price point of these sets has been so reasonable (ranging between $17 and $28 per piece) in comparison to the price points offered on their website. The fits offered so far have leaned towards the oversized comfy style; meaning a low dropped shoulder, which was exactly what we WHF kinds have been after. Ranging between crew necks and hoodies, all styles have had elastic waistbands and ribbed or elastic cuffs (joggers). The materials have been mainly fleece, with a suede-like collection here or there.
Not only have these sets been comfy to wear, they have been a pleasure to wash (just no dryer). In my personal opinion, they have come out refreshed, clean, and cozy each time. You know how some sweat-set material becomes rough after a wash – that is not the case here.
Gap
The Gap brand has forever and always been a popular place to find basic sweatshirts and sweatpants sets for the whole family. These sets are truly built for comfort, but I do have some issues with the sizing, to be honest. For someone who always has cold ankles, these seem to be a bit short for the colder months (and I’m 5’5″). I recently purchased a new pair and after a few washes, I found that they stretched a bit more than I’d like. But, even given these points, I still highly recommend these sets. The comfort overpowers these points, plus the price point is great, the colour selection is plenty, and the option of a hoodie, zip-up, or crewneck offering is amazing.
Shopping Tip: Find these sets at your nearest company outlet store for deeper discounts (such as 40%-60% off), plus additional savings with larger purchases.
Roots
Oh, those famous Roots sets – raise your hand if you or you know of someone who has had one of these sets; especially the ones with the “Roots” logo on the bum? How about 70% of my graduating class in high school owned a pair! Well, shout out to you ladies.
Personally, I just fell for the Roots train this winter when I caved and got my husband a set for Christmas. He now proudly wears his organic original kanga hoodie and joggers whenever he can, and swears by their comfort and warmth. Let me tell you that he even managed to wear this set throughout Christmas whenever he wasn’t instructed to wear a dress shirt. Although he tried to get away with it.
Shopping Tip: I visited a Roots store at the local outlet mall and was told that even though they are at an outlet location, they are not an outlet store – um, excuse me? So, no deals? That’s right, although the store didn’t have any special outlet promos, they had a great selection of a discount section. So, where to get good deals on Roots wear? Online and during promo seasons in November – December, for example.
H&M

As for many of our basics collection purchases, I can warmly recommend H&M for a shopping destination. There is always a great selection of sweatpants, sweatshirts, crew necks, and hoodies for the entire family both at the stores and online. Basic styles are usually offered in various trendy and classic colours, as well as in various material types. In the Fall I picked up a classic chocolate brown set and can tell you that these fit true to size, are very comfy and warm.
Ocean’s Apart
Ocean’s Apart is a very well-known influencer-discovered brand in Europe; but it’s won over the hearts of many non-influenced individuals as well. The most coveted products they carry are their leggings and sports bra sets. Although maybe these leggings aren’t considered to be your regular loungewear item, I just had to include them in this section as I lounge and live in them regularly. Another fun bonus with these is the sculpted structure; lifting and tightening all the right places, if you know what I mean.
So those are the brands that have made my short list of loungewear, but don’t worry, the research never stops and I’ll be back with more recommendations soon!
